Question by Gold Bug: Are baby shoes an impulse buy or planned purchase?
If you’ve ever bought kicks for your little one, did you plan on doing it? Or were they just too cute to pass up in the store?

Mostly impulse. I did “purposefully” buy one pair for his 6 month pictures! They went with his outfit! The rest of the time, they’re just too cute to pass up (especially if you have a girl. They make shoes to match just about every outfit!)
We did just order our son the new Lebron James Soldier III high top sneakers (he’s 6 months old…but we had a nike.com giftcard so we didn’t actually spend the on them!)

His first shoes really where some little cowboy boots because we couldn’t help it (we’re a country family!). but when he started on his walker I really looked for some shoes that offered support to his ankels, and now that he is starting to walk my mom bought him some really good shoes that help his balance, only bad thing is that they are they really are funny looking. We live in the border so she bought them in Mexico, so unless you have family over there or somethig, but now with this flu thing ! ! !

I tend to plan on buying them, then going to the store to see what’s available. My mom on the other hand, does the traditional Grandma Impulse Buy! My daughter has at least 3 pairs of brand new shoes now in different sizes that my mom saw and ‘had to get’ (LOL), including a pair of snow boots for next winter. A lot of times, they are shoes on clearance though, but sometimes they aren’t.

I bought shoes for my son but he won’t wear them. He throws a fit when I put them on him. So needless to say, I won’t be buying any for a while.

I usually buy my daughter’s shoes on impulse. She can’t walk yet, so technically she doesn’t NEED shoes, but I don’t feel she’s completely dressed unless she’s wearing them :)

Well while I was pregnant they were an impulse bc I thought they were pointless but honestly now I go out and buy them bc they keep my sons socks on!! Which is a huge problem esp when we are out and about I can’t have him losing anymore socks here and there!

It’s a little bit of both. Sometimes I buy shoes with an outfit in mind that they need to match. Other times I know what she needs (ie walking shoes) and set out for those. Most of the time I just see a cute pair on sale and figure “why not”.
